I want to take this opportunity to apologize to the people of Turkey who took offense at what I wrote in my original posting from Istanbul.
I never intended to offend anyone, but after re-reading it, I can see why it struck a nerve.
The writing was sloppy and mean spirited, and I've removed it from the blog.
For the record, everyone I dealt with in Istanbul was friendly and helpful, and I wish I had more time to get out and see the city while we were there.
I didn't mean to insult anyone, and I'm sincerely sorry that what I wrote offended so many people.
