Güvenilir, dost canlısı, uysal ve ailesine bağlı bir köpektir. Yabancılara karşı da kendine güvenli davranır ve kolay kolay sinirlenmez. Çocuklara bayılır fakat iri cüssesi yüzünden büyük çocuklara daha uygundur. Kolay eğitilebilir, fakat bu eğitimde tutarlılık ister.
Fazla bakım ve egzersiz gerektirmez. Diğer evcil hayvanlarla da iyi geçinir. Kendine güveni ve agresif olmayan, aile üyelerine karşı son derece bağlı ve nazik, yabancılara karşı biraz içine kapalı bir türdür.
