ikinci Dünya Savaşı sırasında Japon savaş uçaklarını tasarlayan bir mühendis olan Jiro Horikoshi ve şair Tatsuo Horinin hayatlarını inceleyen film; onlarca yıla yayılmış bir fabulaya sahip. Aynı başlığı taşıyan manganın uyarlaması olan film, savaşın Miyazaki çizimleriyle bile güzel görünemeyeceğini kanıtlıyor.
