mitolojik savaş olan ragnarok ile ilgili muazzam bir led zeppelin öğretisi ve parçasıdır. mitolojik hikayeye göre kıyamet günü bu savaş ile başlamış olacaktır. kıyametten önce yaşanacak üç çağa soğuk kış/uzun kış denmiştir. odin'in komutası altında olan savaşçılar valhalla'yı terk edecek ve savaşa başlayacak. no quarter etimolojide "merhamet göstermemek" olsa da, burada savaşçılar için "kalacak yerlerinin olmaması" manasında kullanılmıştır. "they hold no quarters" "olmayan yeri/yolu savunurlar/seçerler" göndermesi vardır. ayrıca hikayede ragnarok savaşından önce yaşanan savaşlarda valkyrie'ler (atlı, miğferli güzel bakireler) savaş alanlarına inerler ve büyük savaş için odin'e asker toplarlar. kısacası bir mitolojik hikayeden bahseden bu şarkı (ayrıca thor'un da rolünün olduğu) led zeppelin'in yaratmış olduğu ikinci muazzam parçadır. (birincisi benim için stairway to heaven'dır)
en iyi led zeppelin şarkısı hangisidir diye sorulsa, herhalde 10 yıl düşünsem de cevabı bulamam. ancak no quarter'ın en çeldirici şıklardan biri olduğu kesin.
Nedendir bilmem fakat bu şarkının introsu ve de plant'ın vokali beni korkutur. Kesinlikle en muhteşem led zeppelin şarkılarından biridir. Çok gizemli bir havası vardır bu şarkının.
