Düğününe bir kaç gün kala öldürülen kızlarının yerine evlat olarak damat adayını koyan bir aileyi ve yaşananları izliyoruz. Filmi ilgi çekici yapan iki nişanlının ayrılmış olması ama kızın ailesinin bunu bilmemesi, damat adayının ise kendisini oğulları yerine koydukları için onlara gerçeği söyleyememesi ve bir de katilin mahkemesinin yaklaşması.
Yavaş ilerleyen bir drama ve aşırı dürüstlük sinir bozucu olabiliyor. Bu bakımdan finali sonrası ya seversiniz ya nefret edersiniz. Jake Gyllenhaal ise evrim geçirmiş, herhalde sakal ektirmek gibi bir takım estetik operasyonlar geçirmiş.
