birleşik devletler silahlı kuvvetleri'nin en eski askeri marşı ve hâlen amerikan deniz piyadelerinin resmi marşı. amerika'nın 1801 yılında osmanlı devleti ile yaptığı savaşı anlatır. amerika'nın vergi verdiği ilk ve tek devlet olan osmanlı (aslında osmanlıya bağlı olan Trablusgarp, Tunus, Cezayir ve Fas Sultanlığı) bu savaşı kaybetmiştir. bu zafer amerika birleşik devletleri için çok büyük bir zaferdir. osmanlı'ya her yıl ödediği vergi kaldırılmış, cezayir beylerbeyliği amerika'ya vergi ödemek zorunda bırakılmıştır.
