Genç genetikçi Thomas bütün vaktini üzerinde fazlasıyla çalıştığı ancak bir sonuca ulaşamadığı araştırmasına verdiği için, hem aşk hayatı hem de kariyeri tehlikeye girmiştir. Thomas'ın elindeki tek şans araştırmasının doğruluğunu kanıtlamaktır, bunun için de insan bir deneğe ihtiyacı vardır. Bu amaçla yeni yakalanan bir seri katil üzerinde çalışmaya başlar.
