çocukken izleyip fena etkisinde kaldığım film. daha sonra filmin ismini hatırlamadığım için bulamamıştım. insanlara konusunu anlatmaya çalışıyordum, ama kimsenin hangi film olduğuna dair fikri yoktu. internette aramaya çalıştım ama herhalde doğru kelimeleri bulamadım. aynı paul hackett gibi çaresizdim resmen... neyse yıllar sonra tesadüfen internetten öylesine michael scorsese filmlerini incelerken filmi bulabildim. goodfellasları, departedları, shutter islandları çeken adammış meğer onca yıldır beynimden çıkmayan filmi çeken adam. sonuç olarak başka hiç bir filme benzemeyen harika bir filmdir. kanımca ölmeden izlenmelidir.

Film, bir gecede hayatını kaybetmeye çalışan bir adamın, her adımında daha da batışa sürüklendiği bir yolculuğa çıkmasını anlatıyor. Başroldeki Paul Hackett, adeta bir yeraltı New York gecesinin içine düşüyor. Bu filmdeki gerilim, karanlık mizah ve absürtlük o kadar başarılı ki, bir an için gerçekten de Paul’ün yerinde olabileceğimi düşündüm. Scorsese'nin en iyi işlerinden biri olabilir.
