i want to take this opportunity to apologize to the people of turkey who took offense at what i wrote in my original posting from istanbul.
i never intended to offend anyone, but after re-reading it, i can see why it struck a nerve.
the writing was sloppy and mean spirited, and i've removed it from the blog.
for the record, everyone i dealt with in istanbul was friendly and helpful, and i wish i had more time to get out and see the city while we were there.
i didn't mean to insult anyone, and i'm sincerely sorry that what i wrote offended so many people.
