At the end of the conference, it was decided that Turkey's neutrality
should be maintained.[1] It was also decided to build the Incirlik Air Base
near Adana for possible Allied air operations in the region, but construction
works began after the end of the Second World War.[1] Incirlik Air Base
later played an important role for NATO during the Cold War.

It was established in 1947 as the Joint American Military Mission for Aid to Turkey
(JAMMAT), and renamed the Joint United States Military Mission for Aid to Turkey
(JUSMMAT) in 1958.
