UB40 multi nasyonel diyebilecegigimiz nitelikte bir reggea ve pop müzik grubudur. grubun ismi ingilteredeki bizde "issizlik sigortasi" diye bilinen "Unemployment Benefit" kelimesinin bas harflerinden gelmektedir.
1983 de red red wine hit parcasiyla zirveye vurmuslardir. (bkz: Nelson Mandela) bir konserde cikip bu sarkiya eslik etmistir. tabii bunu baska hit parcalar izlemistir:
I Got You Babe , Can't Help Falling In Love, Kingston Town gibi. "can´t fallin in love" parcasi 7 hafta ingiltere music chartta bir numarada kalmis ve ardindan Sharon Stone´un "silver" isimli filminin sountrack´i icin satin alinmistir, parca filmin giris müzigi olarak calar.
